ICTea had just added its new west-side location when, last month, its owners announced they were closing both of their Wichita boba shops.
Though the original owners didn’t share their reasons for closing, they did say they hoped someone would take over the business.
Now, someone has.
I contacted the new owners, who would share only that they were long-time customers. They wouldn’t give their names but said that customers who wanted to meet them could on Saturday, when they reopen the east-side shop at 3300 N. Rock Road — the original ICTea. They won’t be reopening the west-side shop at 2233 N. Ridge Road.
Those who visit for the reopening, which starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, will get 25% off one drink per order on both Saturday and Sunday. The owners will re-institute the punch card program on Monday.
Joey Lynes opened the first ICTea on North Rock Road in 2016, and at the time, the shop was one of Wichita’s only boba purveyors.
In late June, he added the Ridge Road location but closed it after less than a month.
This new west-side restaurant’s sign went up weeks ago. Now, there’s an opening date.
