Spooky season is back in Hampton Roads, and children across the region will take to the streets Thursday for trick-or-treating.
Most Hampton Roads locales limit trick-or-treating to children 12 and under, with the exception of Chesapeake, which allows children as old as 14 to participate. For most cities, candy festivities will begin at dusk, or about 6 p.m. City ordinances prohibit trick-or-treating outside of that time, punishable with a misdemeanor. Parents or guardians accompanying children are excluded from the law.
Maybe pack a light coat, whether or not it goes with the costume. According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, temperatures will be around 60 Thursday night.
