Spring has sprung in L.A., and with temperatures hitting the high 70s, you might think it’s summer. The onset of warm weather mixed with chilly nights and bouts of rain has West Coast fashion fully thriving. There’s room to try a little bit of everything—we’ve already pulled out our shorts and summer dresses, but bringing a layer is still necessary. The change in seasons has reenergized the fashion trends across the city, and I’m obsessed with every single one.
I’ll say it here first: Overalls are so back. The style has taken over the Who What Wear offices, and it looks so chic styled with sneakers or jellies. Contrary to popular belief, athleisure is making its way out of L.A. Instead, we’re wearing elevated satin and linen pants that are just as cozy as sweatpants. I won’t give it all away here. Scroll on to shop all the spring trends making their rounds across Los Angeles.
Soft, Slouchy Pants
Anything but trousers is the vibe in Los Angeles. The fashion set has found the perfect way to mix up the trouser-and-top formula, and better yet, it’s still office friendly. A more refined extension of athleisure is taking over. Slouchy, satin, and linen pants in on-trend colors like chocolate and butter yellow have the relaxed feel of summer but still feel practical for the mercurial spring weather.

Slim Sneakers
I have a soft spot for chunky dad sneakers, but it’s true: slim sneakers are so back. The silhouette is so chic and easy to style, after all. The newest Super Lowpro style from Vans is already all over my social media, and Adidas’s Tokyo style is bound to be the next big silhouette for the brand after the Samba. I’m seeing people across L.A. style these with jeans and a T-shirt with a sweater draped over their shoulders.
Veronica Beard
Riviera Sneaker
The brown suede is so good.
Vans

Onitsuka Tiger

It wouldn’t be a trendy sneaker roundup without Adidas.

Suede-Trimmed Leather Sneakers
Overalls
Of course, overalls are back. It’s about to be a Cowboy Carter summer, and Western aesthetics—fringe, boho, studs—are making a major comeback. It just makes sense. Right now, I’m noticing white overalls look especially chic and polished, but a worn-in denim pair will always do the trick. Free People’s barrel take feels particularly of-the-moment and cool.
Carhartt WIP
Bib Straight Overall
My favorite out of the bunch is this sleek white style.
Free People

Reformation
Arlo Denim Overalls
I’d style these with a pretty flat shoe and a colorful sweater.
Long Shorts
Remember the extra-short shorts of the early 2010s? A decade later, we’ve swung all the way the other direction. We’re swapping our mid-thigh and short shorts for long Bermuda shorts that reach just above the knee. (See Hailey Bieber’s street style for proof.) Not only are they incredibly comfortable, but the longer length adds a laid-back, mature feel that has given shorts the rebrand they needed.
Ali Grace is an L.A.-based brand that upcycles vintage Levi’s and turns them into the most perfect pairs of jeans and shorts. I’m eyeing this longer pair.
Levi’s
High Rise Baggy Shorts

Luis Suiting Jort
The tan shade would look so chic with a button-up and jelly sandals.
Colorful Cardigans
Although 80-degree days have been transporting us to summer, it’s still technically spring—and the chilly nights and Santa Ana gusts prove it. Thus, light layers are necessary. A cardigan is a no-brainer, and I’ve noticed that L.A. girls have been embracing bold hues and bright pastels in their knitwear. Think cherry red, Galinda pink, and kelly green.
Reformation
Clara Cashmere Crew Cardigan
You’ll come back to this classic cardi season after season.
The green shade with the white overalls above and a pair of sneakers—I’m just saying, it might be the perfect outfit.
