Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper arrested, accused of assaulting woman during traffic stop

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper has been arrested, suspected of sexual assault during a traffic stop.

Oklahoma County District Attorney Vicki Behenna announced Friday that she will file charges for rape in the first degree and forcible oral sodomy.

The charges were not yet visible in court records as of Friday afternoon, however. It is the policy of The Oklahoman not to name suspects of crimes before charges are filed.

In a news release, Behenna said the trooper pulled over a vehicle in southeast Oklahoma City.

“The victim reported that (he) told her she could go down the street with him or go to jail for driving under suspension and with no insurance,” Behenna said.

After the alleged encounter, the woman made a sexual assault complaint to the Oklahoma City Police Department. Officers collected evidence before turning the investigation over to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Criminal Investigations Section.

The trooper was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center Friday on a $100,000 bond.

This story will be updated when more information is available.
