Man seriously hurt in glass bottle attack at bar

A man has been taken to hospital with serious head and facial injuries after being hit with a glass bottle after a fight started in a town centre bar.

Suffolk Police said two men got into an altercation inside A Listers at Aurora Bar, Helena Road, on Ipswich’s Waterfront, at about 00:15 BST on Sunday.

The trouble moved outside when a man in his 30s was pinned against a grey BMW and hit on the side of the head with the bottle.

A third man, who attempted to intervene and stop the fight, suffered hand injuries, police said.

Officers believe the suspect fled the scene and headed towards the university.

The force appealed for anyone with any information or who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.
