Five international students at UMass have visas revoked, student status terminated

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Five international students have had their visas revoked at UMass Amherst Friday night, according to a press release from Chancellor Javier Reyes.

Chancellor Reyes added that in addition to having their visas revoked, their student statuses were terminated by the federal government.

Reyes said the university was not notified of these status revocations by federal authorities and was only made aware as a result of proactive checks in the ‘student and exchange visitor information database.’ The university is connecting these students to on-and-off-campus resources to guide them through this transition.

We will continue to update this story as soon as new information becomes available.
