Erie County restaurant inspections for Aug. 1-8, 2024


At least once a year, Erie County Department of Health officials inspect all restaurants and stores that sell unpackaged food. Here is a list of violations recorded Aug. 1 through Thursday.

5 critical violations

Universal Groceries, 2256 Broad St. (Cheese and ham found with mold and frozen food thawed; three exterior doors had large gaps inviting pests; fruit flies found around garbage and dead flies found in freezer; three-bowl sink not being used to immerse equipment for cleaning; person in charge not performing duties.) Also 6 noncritical violations. Wednesday

Imperial Palace, 4646 Buffalo Road, Harborcreek Township (Severely dented and swollen cans intended for use and sale; uncovered food in walk-in cooler; no PH thermometer in sushi bar; repackaged food incorrectly datemarked; Person in charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of the state food code.) Also three non critical violations. Wednesday

1 critical violation

Wendy’s, 5902 Wattsburg Road, Millcreek Township. (Milk cooler not cool enough.) Also one noncritical violation. Aug. 2

Country Fair, 347 E. 12th St. (Milk found too warm.) Wednesday

F&F Poke Bowl & Ramen, 6831 Peach St., Summit Township (ready-to-eat food not datemarked.) Tuesday

IHOP, 4050 Depot Road, Harborcreek Township. (ready-to-eat food incorrectly datemarked.) Tuesday

DK International Food, 2122 Buffalo Road. (mouse droppings and dead mice found.) Monday

KFC, 1116 Parade St. (Milk not cold enough.) Monday

1 noncritical violation

Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill, 2074 Interchange Road, Millcreek Township. Tuesday

Marco’s Pizza, 1509 E. 38th St. Tuesday
