Cleveland Heights police reopen street after ‘operation’ shut down

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — An “operation” kept the 2000 block of Staunton Road shut down for hours in Cleveland Heights Saturday evening.

Around 6 p.m., the city said law enforcement agencies had blocked off traffic in the area and were asking people who live nearby to stay home.

The city offered an update just before 9 p.m. saying while there was no “immediate threat” that police operations, which were court authorized, were ongoing in the area. No one was reported injured.

An hour later, the city said while police may still be on site, the area was reopen to traffic.

People had been asked to maintain a safe distance from the area and traffic was blocked. It is not yet clear what led to the shut down.
