Heavy rains are expected to hit the Cincinnati area Sunday afternoon, with a possibility for severe weather.
The National Weather Service at Wilmington issued a wind advisory in Greater Cincinnati until 11 p.m. Rainfall and storms are expected between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Forecasters project a marginal risk for severe weather in the northern portions of Hamilton and Clermont counties, as well as the entirety of Butler and Warren counties. Storms and showers will hit the entire region, however, Northern Kentucky is excluded from the severe weather risk.
Primary threats include straight-line, damaging winds and a possible isolated tornado. Strong wind gusts will continue beyond 4 p.m., with wind speeds of 15 to 25 mph expected. Wind gusts could reach up to 50 mph.
As of 12:30 p.m., the weather service has not issued any severe weather watches or warnings, but still advises the public to be on the lookout for high winds and rain.
